Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday demanded Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to withdraw criminal cases registered against Maratha protestors during their agitation.


Maratha youth do not get involved in hooliganism. Some notorious elements tried to disrupt the harmony during the protest but the criminal cases were registered on innocent individuals,” said Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray while speaking at a press conference at Matoshree along with the coordinators of Maratha Kranti Morcha.

Earlier, CM Fadnavis assured that all criminal cases registered against Maratha youth will be withdrawn. However, the promise has not been fulfilled, as of now.

Thackeray said that Shiv Sena supports the Maratha Community along with Dhangar Samaj, Mahadevi Koli and others in their demand for reservation. 

“When will the special assembly session be conducted to provide justice to these communities?” asked Uddhav Thackeray.

Shiv Sena is in power with the BJP. Thus, Maratha community (we) have come to meet Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray. In Maharashtra, there have been 10,700 cases registered against Maratha community protestors. We are here to talk about withdrawing those criminal cases. We also demand that the accused in Kopardi rape case shall be sentenced to death,” said Maratha Kranti Morcha Coordinator Babanrao Sudrik.
