Maratha outfit groups will be launching a jail bharo aandolan across the state and in Mumbai protesting against the arrest of Maratha Kranti Morcha protestors. They have given the state government an ultimatum to give their decision on Maratha reservation by August 9, or else they will gherao Mantralaya in large numbers.

The protest that began as a silent protest became violent when Aurangabad resident Kakasaheb Shinde committed suicide by jumping off a bridge. It was followed by torching buses and police vans. Accordingly, Maharashtra police detained 155 protestors across the state while arresting some and three protestors in Mumbai.

Post these arrests, Maratha Kranti Morcha protestors became violent and demanded the state government to release the protestors and withdraw the cases. Jail bharo aandolan will be carried out in every district and at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan. The protest will begin post 11:00 am.

Maratha community has been demanding reservation in jobs and education for the past two years. Meanwhile, the decision on Maratha reservation is pending in Bombay High Court. Maratha outfit groups were enraged seeing no response from the government and decided to stage violent protests.
