The tender was finally released at international level for the construction of a grand memorial for Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in Indu Mill in Dadar. Initially, the budget for constructing the monument was Rs 500 crore, but later is was raised to Rs 550 crore.

It is decided to build these monuments at the place of 12 acres of Indu Mill. Prior to this memorial, NTC (National Textile Corporation) did not get sanction due to technical reasons but later it was approved by improving all the technical disturbances. Earlier, the original expenditure of this memorial was stated to be Rs. 435 crores and it was extended to 500 crores, but when passing the tender, its budget was made to 550. It is assumed that the work of the memorial will be completed in 3 years.

On the basis of increased budget, Anandraj Ambedkar, President of the Republican Sena, said that the government is not giving any notice to the public on the basis of which the budget is being extended. Our demand is that the government should organise a special meeting and present its design to the public, but the government is doing its arbitrariness.

Ramesh Jadhav, President of the Republican Sena, criticised MMRDA, said that the tender has shown the budget of 550 crores but its budget will go up to 800 crores. While expressing the desire to be dismantled by the MMRDA on the design of the monument built by architect Shashi Prabhu, he said that the memorial was designed from 12 countries to memorial, but why only Shashi Prabhu's design was passed. He said that the need to make the selection was done publicly. Jadhav said that even is also time to demonstrate the design and should be chosen.
