The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has begun campaigning for its candidates in the party.

MNS corporator Sandeep Deshpande and his wife Swapna Deshpande, who is contesting from ward 185, visited Shivaji Park on Thursday to interact with voters. Former MLA Nitin Sardesai who was also present, told voters that Swapna enjoys the full support of her husband and hence stands a better chance to win. Swapna herself said that she would like to focus on women's issues and other civic problems if she is elected. Sandeep Deshpande was ineligible to contest from this ward, as it has been reserved for women candidates this time round. Swapna who was in government employment as a tehsildar, quit her job in order to contest the civic polls this time. Read earlier story here-

Dadar resident Vivek Bhide who was present during the interaction said that he would be happy if Swapna Deshpande wins the seat, but another resident, Vasant Nishar, posed many questions to her. “There is a dearth of playgrounds in Dadar, roads are not properly maintained and we need other basic civic amenities,” he said.

Swapna Deshpande will be contesting against former mayor, Shiv Sena candidate Vishakha Raut.
