Political parties are neglecting Konkan: MNS chief Raj Thackeray

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday said that all political parties were neglecting Konkan and its people’s issues as the government is trying to bring the destructive project to the region.

Speaking at an event in Konkan Bhavan while addressing party workers, Thackeray asserted that the “outsiders” were making an attempt to take away lands of the people living in the Konkan region.

Criticising the government for proposed 'Nanar Project' and trying to acquire lands for the same, the MNS chief asked people to not give their land for “destructive” projects that the establishment is trying to bring in this region.

After Amazon, the Western Ghats and its mountain ranges have the largest biodiversity. Many social and environmental institutions have studied regarding the same subject. However, the political parties have ignored this region,” said MNS chief Raj Thackeray.

Thackeray also criticised Maharashtra government over the issues of potholes in Konkan region. He said that Konkan is a land where many Bharat Ratnas were born but the number of potholes on Mumbai-Goa highway are causing trouble.
