Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has demanded the Uddhav Thackeray government to allow the opening of temples in the state. Thackeray said that the malls have started, why can’t temple not open?

“If the government can open malls, why can’t they open temples,” Raj Thackeray said while interacting with a delegation of 10 priests from Nashik’s Trimbakehwar. They had come to meet the MNS chief at his residence Krishna Kunj to inform the problems being faced by small businesses near the temple area.

Under the ‘Mission Begin Again’, the Maharashtra government is providing lockdown relaxations in a staggered manner. It has allowed the malls and shops to operate but the temples and other similar public places are to remain close.

Raj Thackeray has demanded the state government to allow temples to open in Maharashtra. He said that the temples can be allowed to open for devotees after keeping the Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) in place for crowd control.

This comes after the MNS chief demanded the state government to open gyms in Maharashtra. Thackeray pointed out that the gyms are closed since March and are facing huge losses.

Meanwhile, the MNS had started an online survey to seek a response from the people about the ongoing lockdown amid the coronavirus outbreak in the state. The survey will remain open to register responses and comments till August 18 and it also seeks response from the citizens over the Chief Minister’s decision to work entirely from home during the pandemic.
