According to the latest reports, amidst the protest by some BJP leaders and activists in Uttar Pradesh amongst other northern states, the MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Friday, May 20, proclaimed that he has temporarily postponed his visit to Ayodhya that was slated to be conducted on June 5.
Thackeray took to Twitter to state that his tour to Ayodhya has been put on the back burner temporarily. He added that he would talk about it during his rally in Pune. Thackeray's rally in Pune is set to be held on Sunday, May 22.
Based on accounts, Thackeray's tweet comes in the midst of narratives claiming that he is unwell.
It has been reported that BJP leaders and activists were demanding an unconditional apology from Thackeray for the treatment given to north Indians during an agitation back in 2008.
The anti-Raj protests were reportedly commenced by UP BJP MP Brijbhushan Singh who threatened that unless Thackeray apologizes, Singh's supporters would block Thackeray's entry into Ayodhya.
Thackeray had recently stirred up the controversy of loudspeakers. He had demanded that loudspeakers from mosques be removed. He had threatened that if the loudspeakers are not removed from mosques, his party workers would recite the Hanuman Chalisa outside those mosques.
