Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had organised a programme on the occasion of ‘Marathi Bhasha Diwas’, which is celebrated on February 27 in the honour of Marathi language every year.

The party has planned a series of programmes throughout the day. The day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of legendary Marathi poet Kusumagraj.

MNS leaders will be felicitating eminent Marathi literary figures from Vikhroli this year. Besides, the party also plans to hold awareness programmes on the shutting down of Marathi schools.

Even Shiv Sena has chalked out plans to celebrate this day. While its local units would be organising programmes at the ward level, the main event of the Shiv Sena will be held at Ravindra Natya Mandir in Prabhadevi. Along with a Marathi play, Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray will be addressing more than 1,000 cadres of the Sthaniya Lokadhikar Samiti, the employment wing of the party, at the venue.

Coming back to MNS, president Raj Thackeray has written a letter to all the Marathi men describing the importance of Marathi language. This year, Raj Thackeray has appealed to the workers and the people in a public letter for a 'Marathi signature campaign'.

In the letter he mentioned that there would be some government programmes throughout the week and some announcements will be made. On the Marathi Bhasha Diwas concerns will be expressed about the existence of Marathi language and the next on other days it will be forgotten. Basically, it is more important to think and act on how Marathi will become richer, how it will come into daily use and become our identity.

One must realize the powerful of this language. It is the language of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of Swarajya, Sant Dnyaneshwar. Marathi language planted the seeds of Swarajya in the minds of Indians.

“Marathi language gave the idea of enlightenment, this language gave the idea of workers' unity, this language gave thought to the country, instead of worrying about what will happen, there are enough reasons to be proud of being born in the state known this language. We must work on making it the language of knowledge and the language of trade,” said Raj Thackeray.
