Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Amey Khopkar has slammed Shiv Sena chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut asking him to keep his troubles to himself. He further taunted Raut saying that if he remembered the ‘Thackeray’ brand now that he was in trouble.

This comes after an editorial published in ‘Saamana’ accused, without naming, MNS chief Raj Thackeray of helping ‘outsiders’ in Mumbai. The editorial mentioned that Raj Thackeray is also a component of ‘Thackeray’ brand in Maharashtra.

“Thackeray is a ‘brand’ in Maharashtra which reflects self-respect. The second important ‘brand’ in Maharashtra goes by ‘Pawar’. The conspiracy to destroy these brands and take over Mumbai has unfolded yet again. Raj Thackeray is also a component of the same ‘brand’ today and he will also have to bear the burnt,” Sena said in its editorial.

Reacting to this, Khopkar said that there is only one 'brand' in Maharashtra after Balasaheb Thackeray and that is Raj Thackeray. “MNS workers never had any doubts about it,” he said.

“Your article has gone viral because it mentions Raj Saheb. MNS workers never had any doubts about Raj Thackeray’s brand and his popularity. You remembered ‘Thackeray’ brand now because you are in trouble,” Khopkar added.

Shiv Sena’s editorial came amid its tussle with Bollywood Actress Kangana Ranaut. It mentioned Thackeray saying that he may have differences with Shiv Sena but the ‘Thackeray’ brand should remain. “If the Thackeray brand falls, Mumbai will begin to decline as well,” it added.
