Ahead of the Palghar Lok Sabha bypoll, the political environment in the district seems to be intense. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) invited MLA Narayan Rane to campaign against Shiv Sena, where Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has himself asked Rane for the same hoping this benefits the party.
BJP has given Narayan Rane, Maharashtra Swabhiman Party’s supremo, the post of MLA in Rajya Sabha. With this, the party has taken advantage of the situation and has launched a campaign against Shiv Sena. Rane’s resentment against Shiv Sena is known and with the launch of this campaign Rane versus Shiv Sena.
This movement happened after the death of BJP’s MLA Chintamanrao Vanga from Palghar, where the seat for the post was vacant. However, as the BJP ignored Vanga’s family, Shiv Sena gave the candidacy to his son, Srinivas Vanga. The ruling party has also given the candidacy to Rajendra Gavit who has been a part of Congress before.
Both the parties – Shiv Sena and BJP – have tried to be above each other in this political tussle, and the game is only expected to intensify more with upcoming elections.
