After the Supreme Court (SC) passed a judgment dismissing the petitions seeking an independent probe into the Rafale deal case, there has been a huge chaos in the political circle and opposition parties.

With Congress President Rahul Gandhi claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is involved in this alleged “scam”, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar has also demanded a probe by Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) into the matter.

Expressing doubts, Pawar asserted that the central government has misled the apex Court in Rafale deal and on the basis of information provided by Modi government, the Supreme Court has given a clean chit in the matter.

Since Supreme Court is not an investigating agency, we demand a probe in the matter with the appointment of JPC. The central government has misled SC by arguing that they had submitted the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report regarding the purchase of Rafale jets to Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and introduced the same in Parliament which is completely false,” Pawar said while talking to the media.

The NCP chief further said that Rafale deal is a matter of public interest and despite that, the CAG report never came before the parliament.

I will present the matter to the members of PAC. Moreover, I would summon the Auditor General before the PAC to discuss on the matter,” Pawar asserted.

Earlier, the apex court had dismissed all the petitions seeking probe into the Rafale deal giving a clean chit to Modi government. The decision has created chaos in the political circle with the opposition parties adamant on their demand to set up a JPC to probe the matter.
