Ahead of the Maharashtra elections, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar has escalated his disaffection towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government. Pawar had earlier advised opposition parties to form a third-front to defeat BJP.

Speaking at an event organised by NCP’s women wing ‘Save Constitution, Save Country’, Pawar targeted Modi and said that he wasn’t fully involved to control the 2002 riots as Gujarat Chief Minister. He further added that Modi allowed the riots to spread as he did not take strong action.

During the riots, my colleague and former MP, Ehsan Jafri was also killed. Modi was the Chief Minister then but now he is leading the country. It is time to change the regime,” NCP Chief Sharad Pawar.

Targeting Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) which is the ideological father of BJP, Pawar said that RSS did not believe in the Indian Constitution and they wanted to change it. From Modi to every other leader in BJP follow the ideas of MS Golwalkar and he did not believe in the constitution, he added.

Once on good terms with the BJP, Pawar has now mooted an idea to form an alliance of like-minded parties to defeat BJP in the upcoming polls and his attacks on the BJP have been intensifying lately.
