Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis said that his party will not pay heed to the opinion of Congress minister regarding the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. However, Fadnavis reiterated that the Shiv Sena-led three-party alliance in Maharashtra will collapse as it was full of contradictions.

“There is so much controversy in Congress party over choosing a president. Soni Gandhi doesn’t want to be the chief but she has no choice. Such an old party like Congress is not able to elect a president. They should introspect,” Fadnavis said while reacting to the leadership crisis in Congress.

This comes after Congress leader and Maharashtra Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Vijay Wadettiwar confirmed that Rahul Gandhi was not in favour of forming an alliance with Shiv Sena. Congress will get out of power if Rahul Gandhi doesn’t want the alliance to continue in Maharashtra, he said.

Wadettiwar further said that Rahul Gandhi agreed to form an alliance with the Sena after the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) was decided and to keep Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) out of power in Maharashtra.

Reacting to this, Fadnavis said that the state government is full of contradictions and will collapse one day. Calling the three-party alliance as “unnatural”, he said that such front has never lasted long in the political history of the country.

Meanwhile, while reacting to Wadettiwar’s remarks, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said that Rahul Gandhi doesn’t want to end the alliance in Maharashtra and was in favour of state government running smoothly.

“Rahul Gandhi and we share a good relationship. MVA government in Maharashtra is running under the leadership Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Wadettiwar is aware of the reason. Rahul Gandhi was also involved in the process of forming the alliance,” Raut said.
