Following the postponement of the MNS chief Raj Thackeray's rally in Ayodhya, he made a public appearance in Pune wherein he elaborated on how he did not wish to walk into a trap laid by those who opposed his tour.

Thackeray was quoted in reports elaborating on how if there was an untoward fallout during the visit, the UP administration would have booked his party workers and kept them in jails. Thus, he believed that no one from the party would be in Maharashtra ahead of the BMC elections

Following Thackeray's comments, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut voiced that the MNS Chief's remarks were made out of frustration. While talking to reporters, Raut asked who stopped Thackeray from going to Ayodhya and what the conspiracy was.

On the other hand, according to accounts, Thackeray stated that while he is ready to take criticism over this decision, he will not risk his party workers. He then went on to question why UP BJP MP Brij Bhushan Singh's apology demand came after 15 years. He then attempted to draw contrast over other attacks on migrants in different states and asked that apologies for this be made.

Based on narratives, Thackeray mentioned a health ailment of his during the beginning of the speech. Later he questioned Maharashtra chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray's Hindutva claims. The MNS chief emphasized that his party has been at the front when it comes to the causes of Maharashtrians and Hindutva. He asked that the CM show a single case on him for taking up these cases.

It has been reported that he also criticized the Shiv Sena for undertaking minimal action to rename Aurangabad. He then urged the Union to take measures to rename and introduce the Uniform Civil Code. Speaking about the controversial loudspeaker removal demand, he reaffirmed that his demand will continue until its objective is met.
