On Tuesday, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was admitted to Asian Heart Hospital in Bandra-Kurla Complex for treatment of fistula and other complications. He was accompanied by his eldest daughter, Misa Bharti, and son, Tej Pratap.

According to the hospital spokesperson, Yadav was admitted around 5:30 am. Prior to this, on May 22, he was admitted to the same hospital for a check-up after he was granted a six-week provisional bail by the Jharkhand High Court on May 11 on medical grounds.

Lalu Yadav has been suffering from acute fistula and the infection is affecting his kidney and heart, the doctor added that his heart is sensitive as its valve is artificial. Doctors will pay attention to his kidneys and heart problems, said Bhola Yadav, RJD National General Secretary and close aide of Lalu Yadav. 


In 2014, he underwent two major heart surgeries at the same hospital to replace an aortic valve and to repair the aorta.

Bhola Yadav added that Lalu Yadav’s provisional bail period will end on June 28 and the hearing on his plea of extending the bail period will take place on June 22. He has been serving a jail term in connection with fodder scam cases.

After he complained of uneasiness, he was admitted to the cardiology wing of Rajendra Institute of Medical Science, Ranchi. Later, on March 28, he was shifted to AIIMS-Delhi and was discharged on April 30.
