In a bid to forge unity among opposition parties and devise a joint strategy to counter the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, a high-level meeting of opposition leaders has been called by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna. The meeting, scheduled for June 23, has garnered significant attention, with Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray among the notable leaders expected to be in attendance.

Thackeray's Participation

Confirming Thackeray's participation, Shiv Sena leader Arvind Sawant expressed keen interest in the outcome of the meeting. "Tomorrow, all the leaders will gather in Patna. Uddhav ji is also going there. Let us see what happens there. They are very mature and experienced people of the country," Sawant remarked, acknowledging the wisdom and expertise of the assembled leaders.

Expected Attendees

The opposition meeting is anticipated to witness the presence of several prominent figures from across the political spectrum. Among those expected to attend are Rahul Gandhi from the Congress party, Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP convener, M K Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Hemant Soren, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Sharad Pawar, the President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Mehbooba Mufti, the Chief of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Additionally, Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav is also slated to participate in the meeting.

Ahead of the gathering, Mamata Banerjee arrived in Patna on Thursday, underscoring the significance of the event. Speaking on the importance of the meeting, Sawant, who also serves as the party spokesperson and Lok Sabha MP, stressed the need to respect and abide by the decisions that would emerge from the discussions. "Sonia ji, Rahul ji, Pawar ji, Nitish Kumar ji, all of them are there. These are all stalwarts. We should abide by whatever decision is taken and work sincerely to secure victory," Sawant emphasized.
