Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is set to visit Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh on the eve of completing 100 days in power. Thackeray will visit Ayodhya to “seek blessings of Lord Rama” on March 7.

Ahead of his visit, the Shiv Sainiks have already started their journey to Ayodhya. A special train carrying members of the party departed for Ayodhya from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LLT) in Mumbai on Thursday.

Thackeray assumed office on November 28 after forming an alternative Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government with Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Earlier, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut had announced Thackeray’s visit to Ayodhya to seek the blessing of Lord Rama on completion of 100 days of being in power.

Raut, a Shiv Sena MP in Rajya Sabha and close aide to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Thursday, met UP CM Yogi Adityanath and discussed Uddhav Thackeray’s scheduled visit to Ayodhya on March 7.

As per sources, CM Uddhav Thackeray will be accompanied by several Shiv Sena MLAs and party workers to Ayodhya. Meanwhile, the central government has constituted a trust to oversee construction of a  Ram temple at the once disputed site in the town.

This will be Uddhav Thackeray’s first visit to Ayodhya after becoming the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

Earlier, Thackeray had put off his visit to Ayodhya scheduled on November 24, 2019. The Shiv Sena chief had visited Ayodhya in June 2019 and offered prayers at the Ram temple site along with 18 newly elected MPs of his party.

The political deadlock in Maharashtra after the state assembly election results was lifted as Shiv Sena broke alliance with its 35-year-old ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Later, on November 28, the Congress-NCP-Sena government in Maharashtra assumed the office.
