According to reports, the Shiv Sena is anticipated to field two candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections from Maharashtra. Accounts claim that sitting MP and chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut will be renominated. Shiv Sena is banking on its excess votes and transferring excess votes to NCP and Congress, such a statement was allegedly made by state Transport Minister Anil Parab, speculate narratives. 

Based on accounts, the MVA government from the six seats hopes to win four from the state. The polling for the same is scheduled for June 10.

It has been reported that in accordance with the current party-wise strength, MVA has the support of 68 of the 288 legislators. These entail Shiv Sena 55, NCP 53, Congress 44, other parties 8 and independents 8.

For those unversed, the election is needed because the term of six sitting Rajya Sabha members is ending in July. These comprise Praful Patel from NCP, Sanjay Raut from Shiv Sena, P Chidambaram from Congress, Piyush Goyal, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and Vikas Mahatme from the BJP.

EC made a statement where they elaborated on how the date of issue of notification for the elections will be May 24. However, the last date to file nominations will be May 31. This will be followed by a scrutiny of nominations on June 1 while the last date of withdrawal of candidatures will be June 3.
