Sanjay Raut, the chief spokesperson of the ruling party Shiv Sena, lashed out at the BJP on Friday, November 13, amidst allegations of illegal land deal between Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and late interior designer Anvay Naik’s family.

The Shiv Sena leader especially singled out criticism for former MP Kirit Somaiya, who made claims of land deals between the two families earlier on Wednesday and asked for an investigation in the matter. Raut further slammed Somaiya, adding that the Shiv Sena will ensure that the BJP remains out of power for 25 years in Maharashtra.

This comes after Arnab Goswami, Chief of Republic Media Network, was arrested in the suicide case of Anvay Naik. However, Goswami was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court. After his ‘arrest, Goswami was sent to 14-day judicial custody the same day by the chief judicial magistrate of the Alibaug trial court. He had earlier filed a plea with the Bombay High Court but after a six-hour-long marathon hearing, the High Court refused to grant Goswami interim bail. In the High Court, Goswami was represented by senior counsel Harish Salve and Abad Ponda at the virtual hearing. They sought his interim release arguing that Goswami’s arrest was ‘completely illegal’.

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, amidst the conjecture regarding the case, had also slammed the Maharashtra government stating that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had misused his “demonic power.”
