Petrol and diesel are retailed at a record high in Mumbai. On February 4, 2020 petrol is retailing at 93.20 a litre and diesel is at 83.67 a litre.  These wallet-busting fuel prices are hitting the Indian motorist very hard. Petrol and diesel prices have been rising steadily across the country since early January.

Shiv Sena has decided to take a firm stand in regards to these rising prices. The saffron party has also announced that it would agitate in the state against the increase in petrol and diesel prices.

As per the order of Shiv Sena supremo and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the party will hold a state-wide agitation on February 5 at 11 am against the hike in petrol and diesel prices. As per Shiv Sena, since the Modi government came to power, people have been facing constant inflation. The central government does not have the policy to provide any relief to the general public, said Sena party workers.

According to reports, the agitation will be held in front of the District Collector's Offices and Government Offices across the state. Sena will take to roads and protest against the central government on bicycles and bullock carts.

Shiv Sena MP Vinayak Raut said, “As per the order of the Chief Minister, there will be a state-wide agitation on February 5 against the fuel price hike. Rising fuel prices have plagued the common man. Shiv Sena's agitation is likely to bring relief to the common man. A large number of Shiv Sainiks will join this agitation.”

The fuel prices have been hiked again today, February 4. With the latest price increase, motorists in Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, will pay INR 93.20 a litre for petrol and INR 83.67 a litre for diesel.
