On Wednesday, June 29, Shiv Sena leader, Sanjay Raut while interacting with the media remarked that they will be going to the Supreme Court (SC) against the Maharashtra Governor's resolution to call for a floor test.

Raut is of the opinion that the decision taken by the Governor is an unlawful activity. This he believes is the case because the matter of disqualification of 16 of their MLAs is pending in the SC. He claimed that the Governor was waiting for this moment.

It then came to light that Shiv Sena Chief Whip, Sunil Prabhu moved to the SC challenging the Governor's direction to the Maharashtra Chief Minister to prove his majority on the floor of the house. The senior advocate appearing before the SC for Shiv Sena voiced that the floor test is illegal. Following this, the SC agreed to hear the plea at 5 pm on Wednesday.

On the other hand, reports allege that today the rebel MLAs led by Eknath Shinde will be heading to Goa. It has been claimed that 70 rooms have been booked at a hotel in Goa. Moreover, it is believed that tomorrow, June 30, they will be flying to Mumbai to attend the Maharashtra Assembly.

Similarly, speculations have been made that in light of the floor test, the BJP has directed all its MLAs to assemble in a south Mumbai hotel by the evening today.

Likewise, since the MVA government has to now prove its majority, the NCP is likely to convey a meeting at party president, Sharad Pawar's residence in the city to decide the future course of action.

A major challenge now awaits the state government since Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his government have to prove their majority. These developments come in the aftermath of BJP leader, Devendra Fadnavis, meeting the Governor and submitting a letter to him demanding that the ruling coalition face a floor test because it has lost its majority.
