According to the latest reports, the Supreme Court (SC) will now hear the matter concerning the Maharashtra political crisis on Thursday, August 4. The SC on Wednesday, August 3, heard detailed arguments in the case from the advocates representing both, Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray factions.

Based on accounts, on Wednesday, SC heard comprehensive arguments from both camps in the case concerning the Maharashtra political saga. It then posted the matter for further hearing on Thursday. The SC heard preliminary arguments in the cases concerning the dispute between Shinde and Thackeray that has caused a stir in the Shiv Sena.

Narratives suggest that the bench heard arguments from both the lawyers for over an hour and then adjourned the hearing till Thursday. It asked the senior advocate appearing for the Shinde camp to redraft the written submissions for more clarity.

For those unversed, the bench was hearing petitions from both factions in regards to disqualification proceedings, the election of the Speaker, floor test for Shinde government in the Maharashtra assembly, recognition of party whip and proceedings commenced by the Election Commission of India on the request made by the Shinde camp for recognition as the real Shiv Sena as well as its claim over the party symbol

Earlier the bench had remarked that the matter may be needed to be referred to a large bench. However, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) made it clear that he was not in a hurry to constitute the same.
