Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance of Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena were in a live-in relationship.

“The tussle between the MVA allies has gone extreme. This government pretends that they are a family. However, in reality, it is like a broken family. Rather, the allies in the government are in a live-in relationship,” he said while speaking at an event organised by a Marathi news channel.

Fadnavis, leader of opposition (LoP) in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, reiterated that the BJP was not interested in toppling the MVA government. He, however, predicted that the three-party government in Maharashtra will fall due to internal contradictions.

“We will not make any effort to overthrow the Uddhav Thackeray government but it will fall due to internal contradictions. We have no interest in toppling the government. There are many differences among the three-party alliance,” the former Maharashtra Chief Minister asserted.

Fadnavis further informed that he was a student of history which tells that no government with ideologically different parties has survived in the country. “I don’t think Maharashtra will be an exception,” he said while adding that it will be BJP’s responsibility to provide a strong government.

His remarks come after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray also predicted that the MVA government won’t last long. This has raised speculations of a major rift in the Shiv Sena-led government in Maharashtra.

Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in an interview with ‘Saamana’ said that the steering of the MVA government was in his hands. However, Fadnavis replied saying that he fails to understand who handles the steering.
