The lockdown amid the coronavirus outbreak has adversely affected the economy at both state and national level resulting in people losing their jobs, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray said on Friday.

He said that the MNS was working towards providing jobs to Marathi youth since the migrant workers have left for their respective homes due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“The MNS is working to provide opportunities to Marathi youth. But the state government must also formulate a policy regarding it. People are losing their jobs due to the economic standstill at the state and national level,” Thackeray said.

Thackeray further said that the Maharashtra government should clarify its role on the efforts being made to provide jobs for the locals in the state. The MNS chief demanded the state government formulate a policy which focuses on providing employment opportunity to Marathi youth.

“My party is working to ensure that only Marathi youth get jobs in the vacancies. We are talking to companies. However, the state government should go ahead and formulate a policy for this,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Thackeray predicted that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in the state won’t last long as there seems to be no dialogue among the three allies - Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena.

The MNS chief said that there was no unity between the allies in the MVA government. The ministers don’t communicate with each other and there was a lack of coordination in the government, he added.
