Elections for six vacant Rajya Sabha seats from Maharashtra will be held on February 27, 2024 and the last date for application is February 15, 2024. The Election Commission of India announced the election schedule for a total of 56 Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant across 16 states including Maharashtra.


The tenure of these MPs from Maharashtra will end

Six Rajya Sabha seats are falling vacant from the state due to the tenure of Rajya Sabha MPs from Maharashtra, Anil Desai, Prakash Javadekar, Kumar Ketkar, V. Muraleedharan, Narayan Rane and Smt. Vandana Chavan ending on 02 April 2024. Elections for a total of 56 Rajya Sabha seats from other states including these seats will be held on February 27 and the results will also be declared on the same day.

The seats announced by the Election Commission include Andhra Pradesh (3), Bihar (6), Chhattisgarh (1), Gujarat (4), Haryana (1), Himachal Pradesh (1), Karnataka (4), Madhya Pradesh (5) . Elections will be held on 56 seats in Maharashtra (6), Telangana (3), Uttar Pradesh (10), Uttarakhand (1), West Bengal (5), Odisha (3) and Rajasthan (3).


This is the election program

Election notification for these elections will be issued on February 8. The last date to apply is February 15 and the applications will be scrutinised on February 16. Applications can be withdrawn till February 20. Voting will take place on February 27 from 9 am to 4 pm and the results will be declared at 5 pm. The entire election process will end on February 29, 2024.
