On Thursday, May 19, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar conducted a press conference. Herein he declared that the tomb of Aurangzeb, the Mughal emperor will remain closed for five days. This he says is being done to see to it that the law and order condition in Maharashtra is not impacted.

On the other hand, in accordance with a report by the news agency PTI, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) also proclaimed that Aurangzeb's tomb in Aurangabad will be shut for five days. This comes in the aftermath of the area's mosque committee attempting to lock the place, an official said.

Earlier, an MNS spokesperson, Gajanan Kale tweeted and questioned the need for the tomb in Maharashtra and asked that it be destroyed. Accounts suggest that following these occurrences the ASI deployed additional security at the location.

This controversy stirred when AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, visited the tomb a few weeks ago. This drew stark criticism from not just MNS, but also the Shiv Sena, narratives mentioned.

After Owaisi's visit, NCP leader, Sharad Pawar was quoted in reports questioning the point of such an act by claiming it aimed to create another issue in the state which has been peacefully functioning.

Maharashtra has recently found itself in a web of controversies. Recently, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray demanded that loudspeakers from mosques be removed. This caused the state to be at loggerheads.
