The former ruling party of Maharashtra, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in the recently held winter-session, raised questions regarding government's decision and approach taken towards the Maratha reservation.

Addressing the same and slamming the BJP, CM Uddhav Thackeray, on December 15, stated that the legal battle for the reservation is in its final stages. He further assured that the OBC quota will not be affected. The government has formed a team of lawyers who are working on the case and defending the reservation strongly. He also slammed the people who are spreading false information and speculations with an aim to create a divide. Warning them he stated that the behaviour will not be tolerated, and firmly assured that the government will win the legal battle.

The information was shared in the lower house of the Assembly, whereby he confirmed that no rights will be taken away from any community in the state. With this, he aimed to bring the conversation to an end and informed that the BJP has been passing wrong information to the public regarding the rights of other communities being slashed due to the Maratha reservation.

At present, the plea is pending before the Supreme Court. CM further stated that the Maha Vikas Aghadi is working towards drafting plans for the renovation of temples in the state, with an aim to restore culture and traditions. A special fund is being planned and will be approved soon, post which the work will begin in a phase-wise manner. This decision was shared at the assembly to pass the message that the Sena has not forgotten or given up on the Hindutva ideology.

Mocking the opposition, he added that it was sad the BJP could not appreciate government's efforts to curb coronavirus spread in the state and several parts of the city, especially Dharavi, as the model was appreciated globally for its effectiveness.
