CM Uddhav Thackeray declares assets worth 143.26 crores

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who is all set to be elected unopposed to the Legislative Council in the polls slated for 21 May, declared his assets on Monday, 11 May. While filing his nomination papers, he declared that he and his family have assets worth Rs 143.26 crores, which includes movable and immovable property. However, he does not own a car.

The Shiv Sena chief is contesting his first election ever. In 2019, Uddhav's elder son Aaditya Thackeray became the first member of the Thackeray family to contest an election when he contested the Maharashtra Assembly election from Worli. In his maiden affidavit submitted before the Election Commission, Thackeray has provided details of his salary, interest, dividend, and capital gain as his sources of income. The Shiv Sena stalwart also declared liabilities of Rs 15.50 crore, including loans worth Rs 4.06 crore.

Thackeray listed all his financial assets and gave detailed information about the sources of income of his family members. He also declared that his wife Rashmi Thackeray, who is also the editorial head of the Shiv Sena party mouthpiece 'Saamana', is earning her income from various businesses. According to the affidavit, Rashmi Thackeray has also declared interest, rent, the share of profit from the firm, dividend, and capital gain as her income sources. She also has loans worth Rs 11.44 crore.

The affidavit shows that the Thackeray family has movable assets of Rs 61,89,57,443 and Rs 81,37,17,320 worth of immovable assets and the liabilities stood at Rs 15,50,36,733. The affidavit lists Uddhav Thackeray's assets at 54.45 crores of immovable assets and Rs 7.88 crore in banks and as fixed deposits in his name as well as in the name of his family members. While declaring ownership of the land and farmhouses in Raigad and Ahmednagar, Thackeray also declared an additional 23 lakhs of silver utensils and coins in his possession
