On Sunday, May 1, Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, remarked that his late father Balasaheb Thackeray had supported Narendra Modi when there were demands for his ouster as the Chief Minister of Gujarat following the 2022 Godhra riots, reported news agency PTI.

Thackeray was quoted in accounts elaborating on how the then Union Minister L K Advani had consulted his father wherein he reportedly mentioned that Modi should not be touched because if he was removed, the BJP will lose Gujarat owing to which Hindutva will suffer.

Speaking on the occasion of Maharashtra Day, the state CM attacked MNS Chief Raj Thackeray over the loudspeaker row by uttering that the Supreme Court order should apply to all religions across India and not just one.

Similar to other national issues, the state leader, believes that the Union should issue a notification and make the SC order on loudspeaker applicable throughout India. Therefore, he says, all religions will have to adhere to the order

He then commented that while his father was gullible, he was seen how he was duped, therefore, he is not gullible anymore. Later he made a veiled attack on his cousin, Raj Thackeray by exclaiming that for the past two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic, theatres were closed, thus, if now free entertainment was available then why not.

The Shiv Sena chief then declared that the party doesn’t need to prove it is Hindutvawadi since it is their life. He believes that while there are some who are always playing games, he doesn’t pay heed to such activities.

Thackeray further voiced that the opposition is surprised that the Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP came together to form an alliance and have even completed half its term. He added that the alliance will last after the elections as well if no body backstabs another.

Following this, on Monday, May 2, Shiv Sena member Kishori Pednekar while interacting with the media said no one including Muslims have opposed the Hanuman Chalisa. She added that loudspeakers will be removed from temples and mosques.

Therefore, she has appeal to all to maintain peace and added that the law is equal for all. The ex-Mumbai Mayor declared that if Raj Thackeray has said anything objectionable in his speech then action will be taken against him.
