The older generation needs to step back in order to give space to the young and enthusiastic people in every platform. Politics is one space which is often dominated by the older generation and it is rare to see young faces entering the same. 

However, despite the stronghold of the older generation, the young leaders are catching up in the political game across the country. In Maharashtra, a few prominent youth leaders have managed to stay relevant among the public and gain popularity.


Aditya Thackeray (Shiv Sena)


The grandson of iconic leader Bal Thackeray, Aditya Thackeray, is currently the President of Yuva Sena which is a youth-wing of Shiv Sena. Aditya Thackeray is known for his role in advocating for Mumbai to be a city which truly never sleeps. Thackeray has proposed that the malls and restaurants be open all night. 

Recently, in the political circle, there were speculations that Aditya Thackeray might contest the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. If this happens, he will be the first from his family to participate in electoral politics. 


Pankaja Munde (BJP)


Pankaja Gopinath Munde is serving as Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister in the current Fadnavis-led government. She is also responsible for looking over the Rural development and holds the position of Guardian Minister for Beed district in the state.

Munde is the daughter of late Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gopinath Munde. Apart from being successful in Politics, she is also a businesswoman. She was awarded as the most powerful politician in 2017 and was declared as a mass leader from Maharashtra.


Sujay Vikhe Patil (BJP)


Sujay Vikhe Patil entry in electoral politics created controversy after he joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was fielded from Ahmednagar Parliamentary constituency in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. 

Sujay is the son of former Leader of Opposition (LoP) Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, who resigned from Congress party and was later inducted in the Maharashtra government cabinet. Sujay Vikhe Patil won the 2019 LS polls on BJP ticket and now represents Ahmednagar constituency. 


Parth Pawar (NCP)


Parth Pawar is the son of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar. He holds a law degree from the UK and pursued his Bachelors in Commerce from HR College in Mumbai. 

Parth contested 2019 LS polls from Maval constituency in Maharashtra and lost. Parth’s start in electoral politics may be disappointing, however, he is the next in line for NCP throne. 



Navneet Kaur Rana (Independent)


In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Navneet Kaur was elected as an MP from Amravati constituency in Maharashtra as an Independent candidate. Born in Mumbai, Rana who is a Punjabi has acted in several Telugu films.

Navneet married Ravi Rana who is the second time MLA from Badnera assembly constituency of Amravati district in Maharashtra.
