Reopening of Services

Not only did the lifeline of Mumbai, but the local trains also resumed their services to those fully vaccinated. Even educational establishments finally opened their doors to students, after a long wait.

Unprecedented Weather

Cyclone Tauktae that hit the city in May, wreaked havoc with the considerable damage it caused. Mumbaikars also witnessed unseasonal rains on the first two days of December.

Celebrating Festivities Amid Restrictions

From Ganesh Chaturthi, Eid, Diwali to Christmas and New Year’s Eve, restrictions were imposed to ensure minimal crowding. Citizens showed restraints and celebrated the occasions while adhering to the protocols.

Vaccination Milestones

In November, nearly 100 per cent of Mumbai’s population was administered with the first dose of COVID-19. Authorities also undertook several initiatives like night vaccination drives, vaccination drives for international students, pregnant women and senior citizens.

Key Infrastructural Developments

Mumbai may soon get smart traffic signals and its recent red and white zebra crossing has caught the eye of many. The Dahisar rejuvenation project and positive developments in the Navi Mumbai Airport project are positive signs for the city as well.  

Equipped with learnings from 2021, the city now walks into 2022 with a positive attitude.
