According to a report published in Mumbai Mirror, a CCTV camera was found around the women’s washroom in Mahim’s St Michael’s Church after which the women sent a missive to the Archbishop of Bombay, Cardinal Oswald Gracias.
They asked an explanation for the same.
The Parishioners mentioned in the letter to the archbishop that women will stop visiting the church if the camera is not removed.
Parish priest of St Michael’s Church, Father Simon Borges, told Mumbai Mirror newspaper that it was done to prevent theft as women keep their bags outside on the basin while entering the toilet. To prove the same, a church has come out with a video where in they have explained the placement of CCTV and why it was placed.
