Mission Amanat: WR Police Traced Lost luggage Worth INR 6 lakhs, Returned To The Owners

In a another task of bravery that comes light as Western Railway RPF traces left behind/ lost luggage containing valuables from various stations and trains, worth almost INR 6 lakhs and returned to the rightful owners.

Western Railway’s Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel are always at the forefront to protect and secure the lives of passengers. They are also always o­n their toes for ensuring the security of the passengers and safety of their belongings.

In continuance of their several exemplary deeds, RPF team of Western Railways (WR) apprehended a mobile thief, arrested persons carrying contraband and traced the lost/left behind luggage of passengers and returned to the rightful owners under its Mission Amanat that was launched on January 30.

According to an official statement issued by Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer (PRO) of WR, o­n a single day, i.e o­n February 19, 2022, RPF found left behind/ lost luggage containing valuables from various stations and trains, worth almost INR 6 lakhs including a mobile handset. The RPF promptly traced their rightful owners and returned back the belongings.

Thakur further stated that the RPF staff apprehended a mobile thief at Churchgate railway station and recovered a mobile handset worth INR 17,000.

He was handed over to GRP – Churchgate and a case has been registered against him under u/s 379 of IPC. Further, a joint team of RPF - Radhanpur Post, Ahmedabad Division along with CIB / RPF Ahmedabad staff and GRP/ Radhanpur personnel apprehended two suspected persons deboarding from Train No. 14321 Bareilly – Bhuj Express at Radhanpur station carrying two large bags. Upon investigating further, 26 kg of contraband item Doda Posta valuing INR 65,000 was found in their bags which have been seized.

After due legal formalities, both the persons have been arrested and a case has been registered vide GRP/RDHP CR no. 02/2022 U/S 8(C), 15(B), & 29 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act dt February 19, 2022. The case is under investigation by PI/SOG/Ahmedabad.
