Mumbai Masters Premier League (MMPL) to kickstart from January 21

Eight teams comprising of enthusiastic Mumbaikars will play T20 tournament against each other, at Mumbai Police Gymkhana, to win a chance to play with eminent cricket veterans.

Cricket is one of the most loved sports in the city, and there are many youngsters who make it a routine to play the sport, despite their busy schedule. Focusing towards bringing the cricket lovers together is Mumbai Masters Premier League (MMPL), a T20 tournament which will be played at Mumbai Police Gymkhana.

This tournament will see Mumbaikars, play for teams from different areas of Mumbai. A total of 8 teams will be playing in Season-1 and each team will be playing 6 league matches, followed by semi-finals and finals. 

Below mentioned are the teams and the respective owners:

  • Chembur - Neil Dhankani
  • Borivali -  Prem Ramchandani
  • Juhu heroes -  Sanjay Gupta
  • Santacruz -  Ajay Chaturvedi
  • Bandra busters - Sushil Gupta
  • Mulund challengers -  Vijay Jain
  • Worli - Sagar Parikh
  • Shivaji Park - Mumbai Live

The jersey launch is scheduled for 14th January with Chief Guest Romesh Kaluwitharana to grace the occasion. Sai Estate Chembur Pvt. will be the title sponsor with Mr. Amit Wadhwani supporting the league in all power. The event will start on January 21, 2018, and will go on until March first week.

To make sure the games don't get one-sided, none of the players can have played in the Kanga League or Times Shield from A to D division for the last 2 years. Also, only 3 players between the age of 25-33 are allowed in a team and the rest should be above 33. There will be 2 super subs in each team who can either bat or bowl.

Winner team of this league will get an opportunity to play with a team of ex-international cricketers at a charity match for cricket coaches and personalities who have contributed to sports.
