Good news commuters! Metro-8 to connect Mumbai and Navi Mumbai
SHARES

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has been actively working towards developing the city’s transport system. Right from Colaba to Dahisar and Wadala to Thane, Kalyan-Bhiwandi, the work is picking up the pace.

Metro is now going to reach Navi Mumbai as well. The Metro-8 project for Mumbai Airport-Mankhurd-Navi Mumbai Airport is going to be planned by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

This plan is going to be completed by September and then it will be sent for approval, according to MMRDA’s Pravin Darade.

Currently, Metro-3 (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ) and Metro-7 (Dahisar-Andheri) projects are under work in the city.

Metro 4 (Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavali) construction could start in the next 3-4 months.

Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan Metro will soon be planned as well.

The Metro-8 project will connect Mumbai and Navi Mumbai very conveniently and commuters will be relieved once the project takes the floor. It’s going to be a 35 km route. It might be connected to the Metro-3 and 7 routes.

All these routes are expected to make transport in Mumbai convenient but let’s see how long it takes for these projects to function completely and at what cost do these projects come at. The right balance between development and environment conservation needs to be struck.
