WR announces additional services of special trains to Konkan for Ganeshotsav 2021

Information regarding the trains was shared by Union Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Patil Danve. The decision was taken considering the increasing number of passengers in mind.

Preparations have begun across Maharashtra for the upcoming Ganesh Chaurthi, a festival that the citizens of the state eagerly wait to celebrate. In 2020, the government had appealed to the citizens to celebrate Ganeshotsav in a simple manner, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Following the same, the government has once again asked the people to conduct the festivities in a similar manner. Guidelines were recently issued by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

However, many citizens travel to different parts of the state to celebrate the festivals with their familya nd friends. Buses and trains are often booked well in advance, the concerned department also announces special services observing the demand.

Considering the number of passengers travelling to Konkan every year during Ganeshotsav, the railway department has decided to increase the frequency of special train for Ganeshotsav. Information regarding the same was shared by Union Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Patil Danve. Special trains will run between Mumbai, Pune and different parts of Konkan, however, the demand this year has increased and officials at the Western Railway have increased the number of rounds to ensure the citizens travel in a safe manner. 

For the first time, a total of 72 rounds of special trains were planned to and from Konkan, however, this figure were initially extended by additional 40 rounds. But keeping the growing demand in mind, the services have now been extended by 38 more rounds, and hence, this year, the train services will operate for a total of 150 rounds to and from areas in Konkan.

Special trains have been announced from from September 3 to September 18, 2021, and information regarding the same was shared recently. Minister Danve informed that if the waiting list continues to increase, the rounds will be further extended. Moreover, the Central Government will take full care of every passenger going to Konkan, he confirmed, and also added that the government will ensure that no one is affected while travelling to Konkan to welcome their beloved Bappa.

Meanwhile, MSRTC has also decided to increase the number of bus services during Ganeshotsav this year, as the demand is high among passengers willing to travel by buses
