Citizens who have completed 14 days since both their doses of the coronavirus vaccination have been permitted to use the local train services in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region from August 15. The Disaster Management Department of the Government of Maharashtra has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for its implementation.

Citizens whose 14 days have passed since their complete vaccination will be allowed to travel through the locals on a monthly pass. Such citizens will be given a universal pass with their photo which will enable them to get a monthly pass at the railway counter. Passengers will then be required to carry their universal as well as seasonal pass. The said pass can be used within the limits of Level 3 of Restrictions and more.

According to the procedure, the local authority has been directed to set up special help desks at railway stations to verify that 14 days have passed since taking the second dose. Thus, special help desks will be operational at 11 railway stations in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation area that include Belapur, Seawoods, Nerul, Juinagar, Sanpada, Vashi, Turbhe, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli, Rabale, Airoli from 7 am to 11 pm.

Those fully vaccinated and completed 14 days since, who wish to get their monthly passes, should contact the Special Assistance Cell of the Municipal Corporation at the railway station with a copy of their covid vaccination certificate and Aadhar card. The help desk staff will scan the QR code on the certificate to verify its authenticity. Post this they will certify the vaccination certificate for Universal Pass with a special stamp. After showing these stamped documents at the railway pass counter, a monthly season pass will then be issued.

Considering the number of ticket counters at 11 railway stations, special help desks are being set up from August 11 by the concerned departmental offices of the municipality. The Assistant Commissioner and Divisional Officer of the concerned Divisional Office will the Divisional Nodal Officer for the process. As per the directions of the Municipal Commissioner, the Deputy Commissioner of Administration and Disaster Management Dadasaheb Chabukswar will be the Chief Comptroller.

More than 100 staff have been deployed in two sessions from 7 am to 3 pm and from 3 pm to 11 pm for the operation of this special help cell. Apart from this, the government is also launching an online app for issuing passes soon.
