As the cases of coronavirus have started to decrease across Maharashtra including Mumbai, the state government has decided to relax the lockdown-like curbs in phases from today, June 7.

Amid the ongoing second wave of COVID-19, the e-pass system was re-imposed for 'extreme emergency' inter-district and inter-state travel. As a result, Maharashtra State Road and Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus services in the state were closed for the general public, only essential service personnel were allowed to travel.

However, with a reduction in daily cases in the state, the transport body has decided to resume the bus services for the general public from Monday, June 7. The state government has now granted permission to the MSRTC to start the services with full capacity to compensate for the loss of revenue due to lockdown that affected the services of the transport body for more than 50 days.

Most importantly, passengers shall not require any permission or e-Pass for travelling on the MSRTC buses to/from all the districts that fall under tier one to four. The e-pass will be mandatory for those coming from other districts, those falling in phase five, as the restrictions are strict.

Moreover, all social distancing norms and measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 shall be followed.

The buses on these routes will be available, Aurangabad – Pune, Aurangabad – Akola, Aurangabad – Nashik, Aurangabad – Jalgaon, Aurangabad – Bhusawal, Aurangabad – Shirpur, Aurangabad – Dhule, Aurangabad – Shegaon while the buses from Cidco bus stand will be on Aurangabad – Pune, Aurangabad – Nagpur, Aurangabad – Akola, Aurangabad – Yavatmal, Aurangabad – Latur, Aurangabad – Solapur, Aurangabad – Tuljapur, Aurangabad – Buldhana, Aurangabad – Beed, Aurangabad – Jalna routes.

For those unaware, the lockdown restrictions will be eased on the basis of coronavirus positivity rate and availability of oxygen beds. The order will come into effect from Monday, June 7. As per the government 5-level plan, districts and cities falling in ‘Level 1’ will have the minimum restrictions, while lockdown-like curbs will continue in areas under ‘Level 5’. Due to this, Mumbai's civic body and airport authorities have eased inter-state travelling restrictions.
