Based on the latest reports, owing to a set of newly-laid tracks and prominent infrastructure work being undertaken between the Thane and Diva railway stations for the fifth and sixth lines, a delay in the local train service has been reported. This caused crowding at the stations on Wednesday, January 12, morning, claimed accounts.

According to narratives, many slow and fast trains for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) from Karjat, Kasara, Badlapur and Khopoli were delayed by nearly 15 minutes. Reports have quoted a railway official elaborating on how because the tracks are new, the speed of the train has been restricted causing the train to run late by 10-15 minutes.

The official added that gradually, the speed will be increased in the coming days after it has been ensured that the new tracks and the new formation are consolidated.

Previously, the Central Railways had proclaimed a mega block on the Main Line of 36 hours on Saturday and Sunday, January 8 and 9 between Thane and Kalva stations. This was done for the completion of the work on the fifth and sixth lines between Thane and Diva.

In other developments, Indian Railways has launched a new initiative named “Mission Amanat” to track the lost luggage or belongings of the travellers.
