We know how much our leaders love renaming places in our beloved Bombay, right? Oops, I meant Mumbai (completely unintentional). Recently, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station (CST) was renamed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Railway Station.

This is the fourth name change of one of the busiest terminals of the Indian Railways, this time in the honour of the great Maratha warrior king.

CST is one of the most crowded stations in Mumbai. Change in the name is a result of a unanimous resolution passed by the Maharashtra Assembly.

Now, after the station being officially renamed, instead of it being referred to as CSMT, it will be referred to as CSTM on the app as the railway ministry has set this code for the renamed station.

Elphinstone Road was renamed to Prabhadevi Railway Station. Some other stations are in the pipeline to be renamed. Charni Road could be Girgaum, Grant Road could be Gamdevi, Cotton Green to Kalachowki, Reay Road to Ghodapdeo.

Good luck to this city and its ‘renaming’ business!
