The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) recently announced that it will begin the repair work for the Sion Flyover Bridge within the next 15 days. The repair work had been stalled due to the lack of necessary equipment but now MSRDC has received the material. Therefore, the transport corporation has assured that it will begin the repair in the next 15 days.
As the work will commence in 15 days, MSRDC has sent a proposal to the State Transport Department, who will now take necessary steps to block the disputed route. Once the repairs begin, the work is expected to be completed within 45 days. Therefore, people will have to face traffic for 45 days.

The Sion flyover has been closed after the Indian Institute of Technology’s (IIT) structural audit report in September asked the MSRDC to change the shock absorber bearings. The work was supposed to begin in April but was delayed due to unavailability of the shock absorber bearings with the contractor at the time.
According to a 2011 study, a total of three lakh vehicles pass through Sion daily and it is considered as one of the busiest locations of Mumbai.
