Western Railway’s sale of season tickets has diminished considerably to under 5,000 a day, highlighted reports. This could possibly mean that there aren’t many fully vaccinated people in the city, since only those who are fully vaccinated and have completed 14 days since are allowed to ply by the local train services in the city.

Since August 11, the Western Railway as well as the Central Railway commenced the issuance of monthly season tickets to those who have been fully vaccinated.

Based on a report by the Times of India, an official from the Western Railway elaborated on how this is the first instance since August 11 that the sale numbers are below 5,000. The official is of the opinion that workplaces are still advocating work from home, since not all their employees are fully vaccinated. They are expecting the numbers to rise in September, provided that curbs aren’t imposed. Since August 11, the WR highlighted that it had sold 1.36 lakh season passes, the average sale per day is 6,500.

In other developments, the Central Railway has made temporary developments in many coaches of its special train to Konkan, in light of the approaching festive season. Only those who have confirmed tickets can board this special train, whilst adhering to the rules in place.
