A Shiv Sena corporator recently put forward a proposal that the scrap Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses must be converted into mobile toilets. Sachin Padwal proposed that since the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) guidelines forbid from constructing toilets on footpaths, the scrap buses can be used as mobile toilets.
The proposal came after the corporator revealed that while travelling along the Eastern Express Highway and Western Express Highway, it is inconvenient for people to find toilets. Therefore, the scrap BEST buses must be converted into mobile toilets. However, the proposal received criticism and opposition from the other members.

He further explained that more than 113 buses are rotting away and are of no use since the damaged bus parts are also unavailable and thus, they cannot be repaired. Therefore, Padwal has proposed to establish the moving toilets on the route.
In retaliation, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Sunil Ganacharya said that if the scrap buses are used as toilets, it would tarnish BEST's image and put a question on its brand credibility.
