On Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that the private vehicles carrying employees of firms and organisations providing essential services such as IT and banking should have a sticker of the company on the windshield of the vehicle.

In his address to the people of Maharashtra amid the statewide curfew, he also directed the employees in the vehicle to carry the company's identity card.

"I request the police to allow smooth passage of these vehicles after they display the identity," the CM said.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister also thanked the central government for approving his suggestion to stop domestic flights.

"The Centre has also accepted our demand for increasing the number of (coronavirus) testing facilities," Thackeray added.

The announcement comes as a relief for the people working in companies providing essential services. The people were allegedly being stopped by the traffic police and were not allowed to ply.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced a 21-day lockdown in an attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19. The coronavirus pandemic has affected 115 people in Maharashtra who have been tested positive for the virus, among which, 44 are from Mumbai.

CM Thackeray said that employees of firms providing essential services including Information Technology and banking should call 100 to ensure safe travel. Thackeray also appealed to the people in the state to not panic after PM Modi's announcement. He assured them that the essential services will be available throughout the national lockdown. He also urged people to not pile up food and other necessary items.

In other news, in a milestone move amid the COVID-19 scare, an Indian company named 'MyLab' has launched the fastest coronavirus testing kits in India. The Pune-based company has become the first company in India to have achieved this. As per reports, the testing currently takes nearly hours whereas the procedure performed by MyLab takes only 2.5 hours.
