Bollywood producer Jayantilal Gada's office and home were searched by the Income Tax (I-T) department's investigation division on Wednesday, April 19, for alleged tax fraud.
The search operation is related to claimed irregularities and potential tax cheating on the part of Gada's production enterprises. The investigation continued throughout the day. At least two individuals from various companies are being investigated by the I-T department.
Gada is a well-known producer in Bollywood who has produced several successful films, including Gangubai Kathiawadi, Kahaani, and Shivaay. The I-T department's search operation has caused a stir in the film industry, with many speculating about the nature of the alleged tax fraud.
Besides, the I-T department is also conducting raids at the offices of Vinod Bhanushali, a former affiliate of a well-known record label who recently went independent. Bhanushali is the father of Dhvani Bhanushali, a popular singer.
The production studio is currently working on a movie about former and late prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The raids at his offices are believed to be connected to the I-T department's investigation into tax fraud.
