BMC releases ward-wise data of coronavirus cases in Mumbai

As of June 10, 2020, a total of 13 wards have more than 2,400 positive cases. Besides this, eight wards in Mumbai have more than 1,000 cases and three wards between 600 to 1000.

The number of coronavirus cases in the state of Maharashtra has been increasing exponentially over the last few days. With the state witnessing the highest single-day jump on June 12, 2020, the tally in Maharashtra has crossed one lakh cases

The count in Mumbai, on the other hand, on June 11, has crossed 55,000-mark. But the data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) indicates that the situation in Mumbai has improved over the last few days. The state is currently observing a lockdown until June 30, 2020. 

Mumbai's Municipal corporation on its website revealed the ward-wise breakdown of positive cases, and as of June 10, 2020, a total of 13 wards have more than 2,400 COVID-19 positive cases. Besides this, eight wards in Mumbai have more than 1,000 cases and three wards between 600 to 1000. 

Ward G-North (Dadar), K-East (Andheri East) and ward L (Kurla) have the most number of coronavirus positive cases. Further, wards B (Sandhurst Road) and C (Marine Lines) have the least number of cases. The tally in the city, as of June 10, 2020, had reached 52,445 cases, out of which 26,268 were active. 


Further, the average growth rate of the last seven days until June 10, 2020, shows that the average growth rate in the city of Mumbai was around 2.82 per cent. ward R-North (Dahisar) and P-North (Malad) had the most growth rate of 6 per cent and 5.6 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, ward G-North (Dadar), Ward E (Byculla) and ward F-North (Matunga) had the least growth rates, with 1.5 per cent and 1.4 per cent, respectively.


Data also shows the doubling rate of cases in Mumbai is currently at 25 days, with the highest doubling rate observed in ward E (Byculla) and the lowest observed in ward R-North (Dahisar). While ward E (Byculla) has a doubling rate of 48 days; ward G-North (Dadar) is at 46 days and ward H-East (Khar) is at 42 days. On the lower end. ward R-North (Dahisar) has a doubling rate of 12 days and ward P-North (Malad) has a doubling rate of 13 days. 


The report also reveals that a total of 2,42,923 tests have been conducted in the city of Mumbai out of which 52,445 tested positive, which infers that at around 18,675 tests are being conducted per million. The report also shows that this number is more than the tests conducted in Delhi. 

Out of the 52,445 cases reported on, 19,014 were asymptomatic and 6,930 were symptomatic.  Besides that, 953 cases were critical and 1,855 deaths were reported. A total of 23,693 patients were discharged so far.
