Zoo director, Sanjay Tripathi has said that they are doing all the preparation as the zoo is expected to reopen in November. They are in talks with the senior officials of the civic body and state government, he added.

It was reported that Byculla zoo had opened its arms to two penguin chicks this year. It is expected that these two babies and the birds’ aviary, which was completed recently, would be the main attraction. The zoo was shut for 11 months since the pandemic begun in March 2020. It was last opened in February 2021. However, it was shut again as the city was hit by the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The entry fee for visiting the zoo is Rs 50 currently, while for children it's Rs 25. All the COVID-19 norms will be followed said the zoo officials.

The COVID-19 restrictions are now easing in the city as it is experiencing a fewer number of cases. Cinema halls and theatres are set to reopen on October 22, while the colleges will resume their physical classes on October 20.

Yesterday, October 18, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had announced that amusement parks would resume from October 22. He also directed authorities to curate guidelines for the extension of shop timings from Friday, October 22.
