After the arrest of two civil engineers in connection with CSMT bridge collapse incident, Brihanmumbai Municipal Engineers Union (BMEU) have written to BMC Commissioner Ajoty Mehta asserting that only engineers shouldn’t be blamed completely for the tragedy.

In its letter, BMEU stated that BMC engineers are “civil servants” and they deal with a lot of work pressure due to less staff.

Earlier, Mumbai Police arrested two engineers appointed by the BMC, who were responsible for the structural audit of the bridge – BMC Structural Auditor Neeraj Kumar Desai and BMC Assistant Engineer SF Kakulte. In the Himalaya bridge incident, six people lost their lives while 36 people were injured.
