The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday declared that Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out of the remaining two Test matches against Australia owing to an ankle injury. The 19-year-old sprained his ankle while fielding for India during a practice match. After which, the Mumbai lad missed the first two matches of the series and on the other hand, Indian fans hoped that Shaw would be fit again for the third Test at Melbourne, which begins on December 26.

However, the prodigy has been ruled out of the Test series and his fellow opener Mayank Agarwal has been named as his replacement. Agarwal is yet to make his Test debut and hopefully, the talented youngster will earn his Test cap in the third match against Australia.

Alongside, India is all set to get a helping hand in their Test squad as all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who has recovered from a back injury that he sustained during Asia Cup this year, has been called up by the Indian selectors.

The Indian openers have struggled to perform in Australia and have struggled to find their rhythm in the first two matches and therefore, its due time that Agarwal receives an opportunity to prove his place in the team.

Meanwhile, India lost to Australia in the second Test match at Perth,  which has levelled the series by 1-1. Now the visitors will lock horns with the hosts at Melbourne, December 26 onwards.
