Kurla - In a strange turn of events, an accused was arrested after 17 years and released immediately on bail of just Rs 500. In 1994, Ataulla alias Raju Mustafa was arrested for allegedly stealing a motor pump. He was released on bail then and was absconding since 1998. He was declared a fugitive in 1999. Two years ago, he contacted some of his relatives after his mother's demise. Recently, he had an altercation with his relatives over property issues and his relatives informed the police about his whereabouts. The police arrested him and produced him in court, but he managed to be let off on a bail of Rs 500.
